Mission Statement

This page is an extension of my Artifact 3: Forgotten Poets Project. Although Yusef Komunyakaa is far from forgotten, with countless accolades to his name, he remains an poet that deserves far more recognition than he has received. His poetry is largely inspired by his experiences with both the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights era in the south.

Through this site, I hope to highlight one of Komunyakaa’s works as well as provide a brief description of his career.
